How to Set Up Apple CarPlay on Your Ford Vehicle

Setting Up Apple CarPlay

Step 1: Plug your iPhone into your vehicle’s USB port using your Apple USB cable.

Step 2: A message will display on your touchscreen asking if you would like to connect. Press “Continue”.

Step 3: A message will display listing the Apple CarPlay system’s Privacy and Terms of Use Agreement. Press “Agree” to accept the terms and conditions.

Navigating Between Apple CarPlay and Sync 3

Pressing the “SYNC” icon on your Apple CarPlay home screen will bring you back to the Sync 3 home screen. Tapping the “Apple CarPlay” tab along the bottom of the Sync 3 home screen will

then bring you back to the Apple CarPlay home screen. Note that select Sync 3 features like navigation and Sync AppLink will not be available while using Apple CarPlay. You will have to disable Apple CarPlay to regain access to these features.

Disabling Apple CarPlay on Your Ford Vehicle

Step 1: Press the “SYNC” icon from your Apple CarPlay home screen.

Step 2: Select “Apple CarPlay Preferences”.

Step 3: Press the “Enable ▽” tile to open setting options.

Step 4: Press “Disable”.

Using Siri Voice Control

Pressing the voice command button on your vehicle’s steering wheel while Apple CarPlay is enabled will access Siri instead of the Ford voice command system. This allows you to do things like make calls, send messages, select music and control Apple Maps hands-free.

Apple CarPlay and Data Usage

Certain apps and features may potentially operate using your smartphone’s data plan. Those looking to limit data usage may want to refrain from accessing Maps or streaming downloaded content such as music, audiobooks or podcasts.
