The Top Safety Pick designation applies to 2019 Ford Edge models equipped with the available curve-adaptive headlights.
To qualify for the Top Safety Pick award, a vehicle must:
- Earn a rating of Good in all six areas of crashworthiness testing.
- Earn a rating of Advanced or Superior for vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention.
- Earn a rating of Acceptable or Good in headlights.
The 2019 Ford Edge brings home perfect scores in crashworthiness thanks largely to its improved body structure. The change means better performance in both the driver-side and passenger-side small overlap crash tests.
With its standard Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, the Edge achieves a Superior rating in front crash prevention. Testing showed that the system avoided collisions in both the 12 and 25 mph tests. The 2019 model also demonstrates improvements in headlight performance with improvements to the available curve-adaptive LED projector headlights.
