Ford F-150 at the Texas Truck Showdown Max MPG

For the Pickuptrucks.com Texas Truck Showdown Max MPG fuel economy challenge, the 2016 Ford F-150 was pitted against top competitors like the Ram 1500 outfitted with the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 and the Chevy Silverado with a 5.3-liter V8. Trucks were judged not just on the straight mileage numbers. Rather Pickuptruck.com also looked at capability and performance.

“In the end, we were impressed with the F-150 for its capability, fuel efficiency and composure when pushed hard,” said Mark Williams, editor of PickupTrucks.com, in a recent press release. “For a small V6 engine, it’s very impressive how well it almost eliminates the typical compromises half-ton customers have become accustomed to.”

Ecoboost Mileage and Engine Output

The 2.7-liter Ecoboost on the 2016 Ford F-150 is rated for 325 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque. Yet, thanks to standardefficiency technology like Auto Stop-Start, the F-150 can still deliver on EPA-estimate gasoline mileage of 19 mpg in city driving and 26 mpg on the highway with two-wheel drive. This extreme efficiency is part of what has earned this truck both the Green Truck of the Year Award and a Kelley Blue Book long term value award.

Even though the Ecoboost won’t cost you much at the pump, it can still deliver on top capability. When properly equipped, this truck can handle a maximum payload of 2,250 pounds and tow up to 8,500 pounds.

Thirty percent of Ford F-150 buyers choose this engine for this excellent combination of efficiency and effectiveness. Schedule your test drive at Akins Ford today.
