2017 Ford Fusion vs 2016 Nissan Altima
The 2017 Ford Fusion has arrived and is already making its presence felt. The latest version of Ford’s great sedan offers several several significant updates for the next model year, including an entirely new engine option. So how does the new Fusion stack up against the established power players in the midsize sedan class? Looking at the 2017 Ford Fusion vs the 2016 Nissan Altima show how the new sedan model compares to a competing model currently on the streets.
Both cars start the competition similarly. Ford and Nissan each equip the base models of their sedans with standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engines. After this start, the two companies begin to differ. In addition to the base engine, the 2017 Ford Fusion offers three other engine options. Only one additional engine is available on the Nissan Altima. The Ford engines work their way up to the Fusion V6 Sport trim and its turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 engine. This engine is able to produce 325 horsepower, easily besting the highest horsepower numbers available on the Altima.

2017 Ford Fusion Interior Features and Trim Levels
The newer model year of the 2017 Ford Fusion ensures that the car can be equipped with more up-to-date technology features than the older 2016 Nissan Altima. Ford offers the Fusion in five different trim levels: S, SE, TItanium, Platinum and V6 Sport. In addition to the standard gasoline model, Ford offers the Fusion in both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variations.
Every 2017 Ford Fusion model comes equipped with a standard rearview camera. This feature is not offered on the base Nissan Altima trim level. In addition to the rearview camera, 2017 Ford Fusion models can also be equipped with a blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-departure warnings and interventions, forward collision warnings with brake priming, a driver drowsiness detection system and inflatable rear seatbelts.
In addition to these safety systems, the 2017 Fusion can be equipped with a long list of standard and available technology and comfort features. Equipment like leather upholstery, heated seats, keyless ignition and entry, the Sync 3 infotainment system, satellite radio and Bluetooth, USB and auxiliary connectivity make this one of the most modern and up to date cars on the market.
