The 2017 Ford Super Duty and 2017 Nissan Titan XD begin the engine comparison relatively evenly matched. Both come equipped with a V-8 engine as standard equipment, a 6.2-liter on the Super Duty and a 5.6-liter on the Titan XD. The Titan engine takes a slight edge in the horsepower category, 390 to 385, but the Ford engine wins the torque category, 430 lb-feet to 401 lb-feet.

Any semblance of competition between the Ford Super Duty and Nissan Titan XD is lost when comparing the diesel engine offerings of the two trucks. The Titan can be equipped with a 5.0-liter diesel V-8 engine that produces 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque. Ford’s available turbocharged 6.7-liter diesel V-8 engine is able to outperform the Titan XD in both categories, produces 440 horsepower and 925 pound-feet of torque. This high torque numbers allows the Ford Super duty to offer best-in-class towing ratings.

Very few competing trucks can even come close to matching the pure performance offered by the 2017 Ford Super Duty.
