Ford Explorer BraunAbility MXV Wheelchair Accessible SUV<\/h2>\n

We’ve previously written about the wheelchair-friendly Explorer SUV<\/a>, but now we have fresh pictures of this valuable vehicle straight from its real-life debut at the Chicago Auto Show. The new BraunAbility MXV is based on the 2016 Ford Explorer<\/a> and will be the world’s first volume-production wheel-chair accessible SUV.<\/p>\n

BraunAbility MXV at the Chicago Auto Show<\/h3>\n

The BraunAbility MXV will be equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that is estimated to be able to deliver up to 5,000 pounds of towing capability. This go-anywhere and do-anything power is reflected in the dimensions, which are optimized for wheelchair users to easily enter, ride in, or drive the MXV. Below you can see a couple of our photos from the Chicago Auto Show.<\/p>\n

Featuring removable driver and passenger seats, a powered and lighted in-floor ramp, a sliding shifter and front seat base, and patented sliding door technology, the BraunAbility MXV offers the best in comfort and interior versatility. MXV owners will also be able to operate the locks, doors and ramp with an integrated key fob.<\/p>\n

The Ford Explorer BraunAbility MXV Wheelchair Accessible SUV also offers excellent interior space for wheelchair accessibility. It will offer a 55-inch usable side door opening height, 28 \u00bd inches of usable ramp width, and 59 inches of interior height for the driver and passengers.<\/p>\n

The BraunAbility MXV will be sold at 200 authorized dealers around the United States in Explorer base, XLT, and Limited models, possibly with some specialize packages<\/a> as well.
