New Materials and Weight Rating on the 2017 Chassis Cab<\/h3>\n

Like the 2016 Ford F-150<\/a> and other 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks<\/a>, new chassis cab Ford commercial vehicles will also feature military-grade aluminum alloy used throughout the cab. This new material can save up to 350 pounds, while also reducing dents, and eliminating worries about rust corrosion where it is used.<\/p>\n

That weight savings has been turned around and invested in increasing the capability of these 2017 Chassis cab trucks. Parts like the axles, suspension, driveline, and towing hardware have been strengthened. The new 2017 Ford Super Duty chassis cab now has a front gross axle weight rating of 7,500 pounds, which beats the closest competition by 250 pounds, and allows this truck to get even more work done.<\/p>\n

These Super Duties will also be available with a gross combined weight rating of up to 40,000 pounds. Not only is that best-in-class, but it means that the 2017 Super Duty can haul and tow the equivalent of half of the maximum combined weight rating of a semi-tractor trailer.<\/p>\n

2017 Chassis Cab Engine Specs<\/h3>\n

The new chassis cabs will also be breaking records with the enhanced 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel engine. Matched to a commercial-grade six-speed automatic transmission, this engine delivers 330 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque. That number is a best-ever for Class 4 and 5 segments and 30 horsepower up from the previous model, and 90 more pound-feet as well.<\/p>\n
