One of Ford\u2019s best engines has just won a significant award. The Ford 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine\u2019s horsepower and fuel economy ratings have helped it win an International Engine of the Year award.<\/p>\n

EcoBoost 1.0-liter engine award wins<\/h3>\n

For the fifth year in a row, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost has taken home the award in the \u201cBest Engine Under 1.0-Litre\u201d category. The EcoBoost has won this award every year since the introduction of the engine in 2012. Recent years have seen a significant increase in competition in this particular segment. For 2016, 32 engines were competing in this category. This was 19 more than when the engine was first introduced.<\/p>\n

In addition to the engine dominating its class, the EcoBoost 1.0-liter has won the awards for \u201cBest New Engine\u201d in 2012 and overall \u201cInternational Engine of the Year\u201d in 2014.<\/p>\n

Ford 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine availability<\/h3>\n

The 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine is currently offered on the 2016 Ford Fiesta and 2016 Ford Focus. On both car, the engine produces 123 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. On the smaller Fiesta, fuel economy is estimated at 31 city\/43 highway miles per gallon. These are some of the best numbers in the subcompact class. Choosing the larger Ford Focus does not substantially decrease the numbers. The compact checks in at 30 city\/42 highway miles per gallon.<\/p>\n
