Ford Unveils Next-Gen Driver Assistance Features<\/h2>\n

Ford has announced it is tripling its investment in developing new driver assistance safety features. These features will help you park, avoid collisions, steer around slow or stopped vehicles in emergency situations, avoid going the wrong way and stay in your lane. Ford has said it hopes to have all of these new driver-assist technologies implemented in all of their models within two years. So while we wait, let\u2019s take a closer look at exactly what Ford is working on.<\/p>\n

New Parking and Traffic Alert Safety Features<\/h3>\n

A few of the advanced new driver assistance safety systems in development will help you easily park while also offering traffic alerts. Cross-traffic alert with braking technology will be able to alert you to people, objects and other vehicles about to pass behind you while also automatically braking if you don\u2019t respond to the alerts. The traffic jam assist system will help you stay in the center of your lane while braking and accelerating automatically to keep pace with the vehicle in front of you. The new enhanced active park assist system will work with a new rear wide-view camera to provide a wide-angle view behind the vehicle while being able to parallel and perpendicular park at the push of a button.<\/p>\n

New Steering and Traffic Flow Safety Features<\/h3>\n

Another new technology Ford is developing is the evasive steering assist system. This new safety feature will help you steer around stopped or slow vehicles in an effort to avoid collisions. This system will operate during all driving conditions, including in the city and on the highway. The wrong-way alert safety system uses a windshield-mounted camera and the vehicle\u2019s navigation system to provide visual and audio warnings if you begin to drive against traffic.<\/p>\n

Additional New Driver Assistance Features<\/h3>\n

The two final advanced new driver assistance systems are spot lighting, which uses an infrared camera to help detect and alert you to the presence of pedestrians, cyclists and animals, and an advanced front light system, which widens the headlight beam at intersections and roundabouts by interpreting traffic signs.<\/p>\n
