No matter which of the three powerful and efficient engines you choose for your 2017 Ford Escape<\/a>, it will be paired with a six-speed shiftable automatic transmission. With that out of the way, let\u2019s check out the base engine for the new Ford Escape<\/a>, which is a 2.5-liter i-VCT four-cylinder engine that offers 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque and gets 21 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway. If you choose this engine, you\u2019re also choosing front-wheel drive as all-wheel drive is not available with the base engine. The first of two available EcoBoost engines for the new Escape is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that provides 179 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. This engine can be paired with either drive configuration, and gets 23 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway with front-wheel drive and 22 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the highway with all-wheel drive. The other EcoBoost engine is a 2.0-liter twin-scroll EcoBoost engine offering 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. This engine is also available with either drive configuration, getting 22 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway with front-wheel drive and 20 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway with all-wheel drive.<\/p>\n
