After a lengthy 24-year hiatus, the legendary Ford Bronco is returning for the 2020 model year. Few details about the model have been announced thus far, but we have a pretty good idea of where Ford is going with the all-new midsize SUV. Ford President and CEO Joe Hinrichs referred to the all-new Bronco as a \u201cno-compromise midsize 4×4 utility for thrill seekers who want to venture way beyond the city.\u201d The returning SUV comes as part of a new generation of Ford models that promises to fulfill customer demands for vehicles that are incredibly capable yet fun to drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2020 Bronco Engine<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Bronco isn\u2019t the only Ford classic to return as part of this new generation of vehicles. The model is being built alongside the 2019 Ranger<\/a> at Ford\u2019s Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan. A Ranger-based Bronco made an appearance from 1983 to 1990, indicating the two models will once again share the same platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some speculate it will also share the Ranger’s 2.3-liter turbocharged engine, which produces up to 270 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque when paired with the pickup. What we do know is that the model will be available in two-door and four-door configurations with a removable hardtop and doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2020 Bronco Exterior Design<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ford has kept quiet about the model, but loose lips from the inside have given us a pretty good idea of what to expect. Talk of a \u201cretro\u201d design is supported by the Bronco\u2019s boxy silhouette. It\u2019s also said the model sports round headlights and a rectangular grille, also brandishing the title \u201cBRONCO\u201d across the front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bronco will also be released as one of four new SUVs Ford plans to add to the lineup for 2020. Before Bronco\u2019s debut, Ford will be releasing a \u201cBaby Bronco\u201d model in 2020 based on the Ford Escape. The smaller model promises a more road-friendly design compared to its larger counterpart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
