Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade your SYNC\u00ae 3 infotainment system to SYNC\u00ae 4. However, you will be able to find the\u00a0next-generation\u00a0infotainment system on upcoming Ford models.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Ford vehicles will have SYNC\u00ae 4?\u00a0The\u00a0SYNC\u00ae 4 platform will appear in the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E, set for release in late 2020.\u00a0After the Mustang Mach-E, Ford will begin rolling out the SYNC\u00ae 4\u00a0platform on most redesigned Ford vehicles starting in 2020.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ford revealed that SYNC\u00ae 4 can function on screens as small as 8 inches, but the Mustang Mach-E starts on the other end of the spectrum. Among the most dramatic changes,\u00a0Ford promises that the newest\u00a0over-the-air updates\u00a0will be\u00a0“virtually invisible to customers.”\u00a0Updates will occur in the background, allowing you to keep running the current software until it can activate the new version.\u00a0The current generation of SYNC\u00ae 3 is updated using a Wi-Fi or USB drive.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So\u00a0its mapping features for optional navigation, search functions, concierge apps, and other services will offer everything from relevant, up-to-date points of interest to real-time traffic and weather updates.\u00a0The system will also boast cord-free Apple CarPlay\u00a0and\u00a0Android Auto\u00a0integration, a digital owner\u2019s manual, enhanced navigation features with Adaptive Dash Cards, and intelligent machine learning capabilities.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
