For MY 2020, the automaker has condensed its sedan line to just two models: the Ford Fusion and the Ford Mustang. Ford has signaled that it will soon replace the Fusion with a new similarly sized crossover called the Ford Fusion Active. Don\u2019t worry about losing the beloved pony car \u2013 the Ford Mustang is here to stay far into the foreseeable future.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Is Ford Dropping Its Sedans? <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The basis for the sudden shift? Year over year, sedans continue to take a nosedive in sales. Experts speculate that the reason is a cross between low fuel prices and the creation of more fuel-efficient trucks and SUVs. Either way, with fewer sedan sales coming in, Ford decided it\u2019s time to invest more in electric vehicles and fuel-efficient SUVs. Just this year we saw some new electric-powered options hit the market with the all-new 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid and 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid. Next year, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E will launch as Ford’s first all-electric crossover \u2013 named after the company’s iconic pony car, of course. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
