Do you remember when hatchbacks were first introduced? Many people looked at them and said, “Thanks, but no thanks,” because, at the time, people didn’t understand just how capable, functional and efficient hatchbacks were. Instead, they saw a smaller version of the station wagons that so many had vowed never to go near again. But thanks to models like the 2018 Ford Fiesta Hatchback, which we have right here at Akins Ford near Atlanta, GA, hatchbacks have steadily and consistently grown in popularity.

And the new Ford Fiesta Hatchback looks to continue to be as popular as ever thanks to its newly standard rearview camera and its varied engine options that include a 1.6-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine for the incredibly fun to drive 2018 Ford Fiesta ST. Just how fun to drive is the new Ford Fiesta ST? Well, it’s 197 horsepower, 202 pound-feet of torque and ST RECARO® Package should tell you everything you want to know. Put simply, the 2018 Ford Fiesta ST will make any drive feel like the ride of a lifetime.

What are the Differences Between 2018 Ford Fiesta Hatchbacks and Sedans?

Choosing to purchase a new Ford Fiesta from us here at Akins Ford near Atlanta, GA, is an easy decision to make. Deciding which 2018 Ford Fiesta model you want, however, can be a little tougher. That’s why we decided to tell you about some of the differences between the 2018 Ford Fiesta Hatchback trim levels and the 2018 Ford Fiesta Sedan trim levels.

Aside from the new Ford Fiesta ST, the power and efficiency capabilities of the 2018 Fiesta lineup are very similar no matter which style you choose. The main differences, as you probably guessed, come in terms of size – though not always in the ways you might expect. For starters, all 2018 Ford Fiesta models offer 85.1 cubic-feet of total passenger volume, though the hatchback models do offer slightly more head room in the rear. The new Fiesta Hatchback models are also much shorter than the new Fiesta Sedan models.

But the key word here is “hatchback,” and that means you’re getting more cargo space with a 2018 Fiesta Hatchback than you’ll get with a 2018 Fiesta Sedan. More specifically, you get 12.8 cubic-feet of cargo space with a sedan model’s trunk, whereas you get 14.9 cubic-feet of cargo space with a hatchback model. It should be noted, however, that the 2018 Fiesta ST offers 10.1 cubic-feet of cargo space.
