Highlights of the All-New Mustang Mach 1
The Mach 1’s specially calibrated 5.0-liter V8 engine is a fitting celebration of the decades-old nameplate, generating up to 480 horsepower @ 7,000 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque @ 4,600 rpm. The pony car comes standard with the same Tremec™ 3160 6-speed manual transmission featured in the Shelby GT350—outfitted with rev-matching for the very first time—or an available 10-speed SelectShift™ automatic transmission. The 2021 Mustang Mach 1 earns a top speed of 168 mph with the optional Handling Package and manual transmission. Without the Handling Package the Mach 1 still races up to a maximum of 166 mph.
With the enthusiasm of a mad scientist, Ford uses the Mach 1 as an opportunity to Frankenstein the transmission with the twin-disc clutch and short-throw shifter in the Mustang GT, plus the intake manifold, oil-filter adapter, and engine oil cooler system of the Shelby GT350. Other performance-enhancing highlights found on the new Mach 1 include MagneRide adaptive dampers, an active exhaust system, Brembo brakes, and the Torsen limited-slip differential.
