What Platform is the Bronco Sport SUV Based On?
The new Bronco Sport may take after the original Bronco in name and appearance, but the truth is the so-called Baby Bronco gets its foundations from elsewhere in the Ford lineup. The Bronco Sport is based on the same Ford C2 platform that underpins the Ford Escape crossover. Ford’s decision to forego a body-on-frame architecture for the modified unibody platform gives the small off-road ute more road-friendly driving manners than the original Bronco SUV, but don’t let its milder traits fool you. The new Bronco Sport is much more than a muscled-up version of the popular Escape.
