Drivers looking to maximize fuel economy should go with one of the two available EcoBoost engines. The first is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. This peppy engine produces 179 horsepower while earning an estimated 23 city/30 highway miles per gallon. For the most power, the best choice is the EcoBoost 2.0-liter that Escape’s horsepower at 245 and earns an estimated 22 city/29 highway miles per gallon.

Ford has decided to add several new safety features to the 2017 Escape. This includes the addition of adaptive cruise control with collision warnings and automatic braking, active park assist and lane keeping assist with driver alerts. These systems join the automatic high-beam headlights and blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert systems that were already available on the Escape.

2017 Escape Interior and Features

The Sync 3 infotainment system will be returning for the 2017 model year, and will feature the new Sync Connect smartphone app. This app allows owners to remotely start the vehicle and lock or unlock the doors.

The interior of the 2017 Escape has been updated for the new year. Ford has redesigned the center console to improve storage space and add to the comfort of the vehicle. A push-button parking brake is now a standard feature.

Behind the rear seats, the Escape offers 34 cubic feet of storage space. Folding the seats down increases this number to an impressive 68 cubic feet.
