Ford and Samsung Team Up for Smartwatch Pairing

Can I Pair My Smartwatch with My Ford?

It shouldn’t come as a surprise, but Ford has done it again. The automotive industry’s leader in technological innovation has once again created a new feature that will make your life easier. This time around, Ford has teamed up with Samsung to allow you to integrate your Samsung Gear S2 or new S3 Smartwatch with your SYNC-equipped Ford model for convenient and helpful parking reminders along with alerts to help you remain attentive and alert behind the wheel. This new feature is called Gear Auto Link, and it’s taking convenience to a whole new level.

Using Your Smartwatch to Remember Where You Parked

The easy-to-use Gear Auto Link feature means you’ll never have to worry about remembering where you parked ever again. That’s because after parking and shutting your car off, you’ll receive a prompt on your smartwatch asking if you want to log your parking spot, which is acquired from your car’s GPS system. And if your car is parked inside a parking garage, you can even type the level and other location indicators into your smartwatch’s interface. And when you’re headed back to your car, you can receive directions to navigate back to your parking spot using your smartwatch.

A Watch that Keeps You Alert Behind the Wheel

The new Gear Auto Link feature isn’t just about remembering where you parked, though. It can also ensure your attentiveness while driving by setting audible chimes and voice alerts at various intervals while out on the road. And that’s not all. Future versions of the feature will vibrate the smartwatch as an additional way to help keep you alert.

“The power of Ford SYNC is its flexibility to connect to new devices and services. As wearable technology advances, connecting your vehicle to these devices holds immense potential to help make your life more convenient and more personalized.” – Dave Hatton, Ford Global Manager, Mobile Applications and Emergency Services.
