Owner’s Guide: Importance of Regular Maintenance

Prioritize Your Vehicle’s Scheduled Maintenance

Zen has been having trouble with her Ford Edge for some time now. Her busy schedule had made her forget about the upcoming maintenance schedule. Only when her boyfriend, Tom, found out about her negligence did she realize the gravity of the situation. Tom suggested that she take her car for service as soon as possible. Zen knew her Ford Edge was essential for her daily commute and running errands, so she took Tom’s advice and prioritized regular maintenance. In this blog by Akins Ford, we’ll examine why you should prioritize your vehicle’s scheduled maintenance.

Regular Maintenance of Your Ford Vehicle

Tom, knowledgeable about car maintenance, explained that every vehicle had a unique schedule. He suggested that they follow the recommended maintenance intervals provided by the manufacturer. Tom emphasized the importance of regular maintenance to ensure the vehicle’s safety and longevity. With his personal experience, he mentioned that Akins Ford, a reliable dealership known for their exceptional service, had expert technicians who could help Zen develop a customized maintenance plan for her Ford Edge.

After accessing the basic Ford maintenance schedule on his phone, he reviewed each component with Zen. As he went through the schedule, he stressed the crucial role of regular oil changes in maintaining the engine’s efficient performance. In addition, he explained the importance of proper tire maintenance, including a tire rotation, checking for damage, and maintaining the right air pressure.

Tom then highlighted the significance of the braking system and how neglecting it could lead to unsafe driving conditions. He explained that brake pads and rotors could wear out over time and recommended regular inspections every 10,000 miles or every 12 months. He also reminded Zen that the brake fluid must be replaced every two years or 30,000 miles for optimal performance.

Regular fluid checks help identify potential leaks and low levels, ensuring the proper operation of the vehicle. He recommended checking the fluids every 5,000 miles or every six months.

Lastly, Tom emphasized the significance of replacing the air filter, which filters out contaminants from the air entering the engine. He explained that a dirty air filter could reduce fuel efficiency and engine performance. He recommended replacing the air filter every 15,000 to 30,000 miles, depending on driving conditions.
