Georgia EV & Hybrid Tax Credits & Rebates

Georgia State Incentives on Hybrid Vehicles 

There are currently no state incentives in Georgia for purchasing an electric vehicle. Interestingly, Georgia used to have one of the largest state EV tax credits in the United States. In 2015 the state legislature repealed the $5,000 income tax credit, which was available for the purchase or lease of new pure-electric vehicles. Legislators are mulling over plans to reinstate tax credit incentives on new electric, zero emission, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in coming years. 

EV Charger Install Rebate: Georgia Power customers may be eligible to receive up to a $250 rebate for installing a Level 2 Charger in their home. Interested parties can visit the Georgia Power website for more details. 

Federal Incentives on Hybrid Vehicles 

Drivers who purchase a new electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle may be eligible for a federal income tax credit of up to $7,500. The credit amount will vary based on the capacity of the battery used to power the vehicle.
