What Does Georgia Law Say About Window Tinting?

Georgia state law specifically states “On windows to either side of driver or in back of vehicle, the light transmission restriction may not be less than 32%, plus or minus 3% or increase light reflectance more than 20%.” Here’s what that means in simpler terms:

In Georgia, the darkest legal window tint is 32%. This rule applies to windows to either side of driver or in back of vehicle. Tint is not permitted on the windshield unless you have a medical exemption. The law also prohibits tinting films that increase light reflectance more than 20%. Window tinting on the front windshield is not permitted. This law applies to both residents and non-residents. Failing to follow the state’s window tinting laws is considered a misdemeanor offense.
