What is different about the 2015 Ford F150 sport mode?

2015 Ford F150 sport mode specs and features

The 2015 Ford F150 has and always will be one of the most legendary vehicles available and for the new model, year, it just keeps getting better. The F150 now comes with a sport mode, which is different than the regular “drive” mode. The available sport mode makes handling easier and more responsive. The F150’s sport mode was actually inspired and borrowed from the 2015 Mustang, which means it is incredibly responsive and drivers will have no qualms going around tight corners, even in their F150.

The 2015 Ford F150 is already aggressive, strong and sturdy, but with the addition of the sport mode, it’s even easier to get where you’re going quickly and easily. The sport model comes standard across all models with a six-speed automatic transmission that operates in two- and four-wheel drive settings. The automatic transmission is also the same that is in the 2015 Mustang, so you can be sure that there’s enough power to back it up.

The high-output, fuel-efficient powertrain is a first for Ford and by borrowing technology from another, very different, model just shows how well-crafted Ford vehicles are, and that cross-pollination across the vehicle manufacturer is something that CAN be done.

When you think of a full-size pickup, speed and agility aren’t typically the first two adjectives that would come out, but the 2015 F150’s sport mode makes that dream a reality. The sport mode can be selected by shifting the gear to the “S.” Sport mode holds the lower gears longer, which allows the engine to stay in the more powerful band longer, which in turn improves response time and functions, as well as reduces the need for downshifts.

When a vehicle has an automatic transmission, it will select the highest gear possible to reduce the RPMs, which improves fuel economy and creates a quiet atmosphere. Sport mode matches the RPMs to whatever the transmission does, which helps smooth downshifts. Sport mode is standard on all F150 models and can be utilized whether it is a rear-wheel, four-wheel or four-wheel drive high model.
